Dark Hivemind

An infectious, sentient legion of dark monsters

The Dark Hivemind is an infectious, hostile organism that spreads itself throughout Elutheria, feeding off pain and suffering imprinted on the walls of structures and formations, turning the infected area into what is known as a Dark Room. Through a method unknown, two creatures are often found in a symbiotic relationship with a Dark Room's Dark Heart; Searchers and Stalkers. They protect the Dark Heart from intruders, and the Dark Heart seems to provide them some sort of sustenance in return.
