The Character Menu, also called the Journal, is where the player can change equipment, spend Soul Gems, review their acquired combos and abilities, and view the Elutherian Codex. It is divided into 5 pages.
This full-screen page shows where the player has explored, secrets and collectables they've discovered, and other notable locations as markers. The player can cycle between showing a local map and a global map with ( X ). The global map allows the player to select other areas to view the map of.
While in the local map of any area and standing on a Crystalline Soul Well, the player can fast travel to any other Crystalline Soul Well.
Here, the player can equip Zedekiah and Alina with equipment they've acquired on their journey. From the top on each side, in order, they can equip: Helmets, Armor, Melee Augment, Ranged Augment, and Trinkets. In the middle, at the bottom, is the shared Trinket slot(s).
This page is where the player spends Soul Gems and reviews their abilities.
At the top of the page are the 5 Soul Gem gauges. If the player has at least 1 Soul Gem, they can select a gauge to upgrade. Above the gauges is a number listing how many they have to spend.
At the bottom is the list of combos for the relevant character they are currently playing as. Only one category of combo is viewed at once, but can be switched between with ( ↔ ). The player can also toggle whether they are viewing Zedekiah or Alina's combos by pressing ( X ) while focused on the list.
If the player has a combo credit (shown as a number above the list, an orange one for Zedekiah and a purple one for Alina) for the protagonist they're viewing the combo list of, they can hover over and select a locked combo to unlock it. (The combo is hidden until it is unlocked.)
This page is where the player can review abilities they've unlocked on their journey, as well as review their current stat totals.
At the top are three trees that slowly fill with each ability the player unlocks. Zedekiah's are on the left, Alina's on the right, and shared abilities in the middle.
At the bottom is a list of the player's current stats, such as MDMG, RDMG, MDEF, RDEF, et cetera, shown as the final value of the stat, including bonuses from equipment and Soul Gems.
